The cooking profession has the potential to be one of the most lucrative in World of Warcraft. The fact of the matter is that everyone in WoW can benefit from top grade foods, most people are too lazy however to take the cooking profession to a level where it becomes a gold mine.
It’s easy to jump to the conclusion that the cooking profession is a boring one. If you’re after gold however, you may find it interesting to know that by selling high end “buffing” foods, you can make a significant amount of gold.
If you want to use cooking to make good money in WoW, don’t bother cooking low end foods. You need to focus on the high end foods. Another way you can use cooking to make money in WoW is by doing a daily cooking quest (these became possible with the release of the 2.3 patch). In addition to earning gold (you usually earn at least 7g per quest) you can also win new recipes by completing cooking quests.
As I previously mentioned, the way to make money through cooking is to focus on making the “buffing foods”. It’s a fact that Mages can create foods and drinks through spells. They are no real competition to you however as very few of their spells give bonuses to stats for a period of time. You can do this however.
The high end recipes the cooking profession lets you create can add a bonus to Damage, Healing, Spells, Stamina and more. If you’re a Hunter you’ll also be able to use these foods to give your pets a bonus.
If you want to take your Cooking profession to an even more lucrative level, think about combining it with the Fishing profession. These two professions go hand in hand and will give you even more options when it comes to making money.
If you’re concerned that by choosing the Cooking skill you’ll limit yourself in other areas, don’t be. Cooking is a secondary skill which means it has no influence on the trade skills you may wish to learn.
Players who are determined and willing to use their imagination find that making gold is WoW is almost limitless.
